Surprise Wedding at Workhorse Brewing // Abby & Bryan
April 11, 2019 , Weddings
I’ve you’ve never heard of a surprise wedding, you’re not alone. It’s a relatively new phenomenon that’s gaining popularity. Abby & Bryan’s was the first surprise wedding I’ve ever shot, and it was absolutely incredible!
Here’s how it works: you invite all your friends and family to what they think is an engagement party. Maybe you have your close friend and venue co-founder, Dan, give a little speech about the history of the brewery. Then, while he’s talking, you slip away to change into your wedding attire, and sneak up on all your unsuspecting guests. Then, you do what Abby & Bryan did, and walk in announcing to a room of screaming/crying/happily laughing people: “so…this is our wedding!”
At the end of the day, the marriage is vastly more important than the wedding. So for couples who just want to get married and skip the long engagement, a surprise wedding seems like the perfect shindig to kick off their partnership. My personal favorite part was seeing the crowd’s reactions as Abby and Bryan walked in for their ceremony. Immediate family members knew, but for the rest, it was a successful surprise!
Caitlin from Clover Event Co. helped organize and orchestrate this wonderful event at the newly opened Workhorse Brewing Company in King of Prussia. The amazing interfaith Reverend Linda Bansavage officiated the ceremony, and food was provided by Deke’s Bar-B-Que and Beiler’s Doughnuts. Caitlin even passed around popcorn (the couple’s favorite snack!) as the ceremony began.
So here’s Abby & Bryan’s day in its entirety! We started around their home in West Chester for some portraits, then headed to Workhorse to get the party started!
