Orange County California Wedding in San Juan Capistrano // Laura & Greg
May 14, 2019 , Weddings
There’s a reason people love California. It’s the land of endless beaches, perfect weather, and all kinds of landscapes at your fingertips. In other words, it’s a great place to get married if you want an outdoor wedding. With nice weather 300+ days of the year in some parts, you can dance under the stars without really worrying about a rain plan (aka the best – see more proof here!). In October I was in San Juan Capistrano, California, about an hour outside of Los Angeles, for Laura & Greg’s dreamy Orange County wedding. Their amazing wedding venue was the Villa San Juan Capistrano. It’s full of early 1900’s character and charm, with lush foliage and ivy walls everywhere!
Getting on a plane to shoot a wedding is always humbling, especially when it’s for deserving and lovely people. Laura and Greg are easily two of the kindest, most authentic souls I’ve been lucky to meet over the course of my career. After I went out to San Diego to shoot their engagement photos earlier in the year, I felt an instant connection with them. Subsequently, I found out that Laura and I are both INFJ personality types. But it’s more than that: she and Greg are the type of people you meet once and think, “I have to be friends with them.”
This day in particular was filled with so many of my favorite things, but I’ll let you see what I mean. From the portraits at the ruins of the Mission San Juan Capistrano, to the emo throwback dance party, and the surprise serenade when Laura sang “To Know Him is to Love Him.” Seriously, y’all, this day was amazing and so unique to the couple’s tastes, personalities, and relationship together.
