Multicultural Audubon Center Wedding // Allison & Kirk
February 16, 2018 , Weddings
In the summer I shot a killer multicultural Audubon Center wedding and it was the best day ever. If you’ve never been to the John James Audubon Center, think: old farm meets hipster garage meets classic barn. It’s the best. With the ceremony in the barn (those textured stone walls! swoon!), cocktail hour on the sprawling lawn, and reception in the indoor-outdoor pavilion, it made for a casual but fun day for two of the nicest people I’ve worked with.
As always, my favorite things were the small details. The little rainbow of light coming into the room while Allison got ready. Kirk’s face as his bride walked into the barn. Family leading prayers and speeches that were both hilarious and heartfelt. The tree that Kirk and Allison planted together during their ceremony. The handmade paper cranes that Allison made for each guest to honor Kirk’s Japanese heritage. Kirk’s mom tearing it up on the dance floor. Allison’s epic outfit change at the end of the night. Most of all, though, the way these two smiled and laughed together all day long.
The best weddings are the ones that stay true to who you are. This was the perfect example of that. Here’s more from this day, from the beginning.
