An Outdoor Elopement & Philadelphia Distilling Wedding
January 29, 2021 , Elopements

In February of 2020, I kicked off my wedding season with Katie & George’s epic 2 day event: an intimate outdoor elopement in the Wissahickon followed by a Philadelphia Distilling wedding reception.
Just two weeks later, the country shut down and life as we know it has been different ever since. Since the pandemic, couples have been getting creative with how they celebrate, and Katie & George’s unique nuptials are a perfect example of how to have the best of both worlds.
On a Thursday afternoon, Katie, George, and their immediate family hiked out into the Wissahickon Park for an intimate ceremony. There’s nothing better than a short and sweet outdoor elopement, especially on a sunny winter day. George and Katie said their vows, exchanged rings, and in true Philly fashion, had a champagne toast with Rita’s cups.
The next day, we arrived early to Philadelphia Distilling in Fishtown to take some portraits. We wandered the venue, checking out the distillery and enjoying the last of the sunlight before the first guests arrived. The night quickly turned into one of the most fun and wild dance parties I’ve witnessed, complete with high kicks, impromptu singalongs, and a head-banging bride.
All this to say that there’s no one way to celebrate a marriage, and I hope that Katie & George’s elopement ceremony + Philadelphia Distilling wedding reception gives you inspiration if you’re looking for something a little non-traditional!

The next day, the wedding reception: an ode to the party.
