A Talula's Garden & Warehouse on Watts Wedding // Hannah & Dave
March 5, 2019 , Weddings
More and more, I see couples throwing out tradition and doing things their own way. Hannah & Dave’s wedding day was a great example of that. Instead of just one event, they had two! First, they held an intimate ceremony and brunch at Talula’s Garden. Later that evening, the party and reception was at Warehouse on Watts with a larger crowd and a mini-ceremony for those who missed out on the morning’s events. I have to say, at the end of the night, all I could think was, why don’t more people celebrate like this? Their wedding was chock full of celebrations, but with the break in between events, it never felt overwhelming. Because these two wonderful people, who make everyone feel seen and special, are clearly loved so deeply by their community, it showed in every detail. For example, Dave’s mom, a judge, officiated the morning ceremony, and all of the couples’ siblings participated with readings and speeches.
The different parts of the day were like yin and yang. An intimate, emotional ceremony in a garden plus its perfect contrast – a large, joyous party in an industrial warehouse, complete with disco lights and some of the best dance moves I’ve ever seen (looking at you, Dave!). Hannah even swapped out her hairstyle and changed into a jumpsuit for the reception! Every magical component combined was the perfect recipe for a really special day – one that was an absolute privilege to document.
